We have no doubt that babies are still made to the music of Motown, but we didn’t realize it was that literal! Josh Tower, just hours after finishing his first performance as Berry Gordy in Motown the Musical, and his wife Karen welcomed a new baby daughter: Marlowe Rose Cortes-Tower.
After his first curtain call on June 17 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, Tower hopped in a car and rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, where Karen had just begun labor. The new Broadway baby arrived at 4:42 AM on Wednesday morning.
In addition to Motown the Musical, Tower has appeared on the Great White Way in The Lion King and Ragtime. His additional stage credits include Langston in Harlem, Murder Ballad and Miss Saigon.
Tower shared a photo of his newborn daughter on Twitter, saying, “Debut as Berry Gordy @MotownMusical with AMAZING cast & then hours later… My daughter arrived. ‘Hello’ LIFE!”
